How do I add recurring bills in TimelyBills?

Modified on Thu, 15 Aug at 12:25 PM

Recurring bills are meant to be created only once by the user and then it automatically keeps on repeating in the future. TimelyBills provides different options to select bill recurrence frequency like weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, and many more.

Follow the below steps to learn how to create recurring bills:

  • Go to Dashboard > Bills.

  • Tap on the + icon to add recurring bills.

  • Enter the bill due amount.

  • Select or create a category for the bill (e.g., utilities, rent, subscriptions).
    • There are already predefined category groups and subcategories available. We would recommend using the standard one, though if available categories do not suit the purpose, create a custom category and that will be only visible to you.

  •  Choose the service provider.
    • If any service provider is selected, then that service provider's picture will be used, wherever this bill is shown in the app.

  •  Provide a title for the bill.
    • By default, the title is automatically generated using the Service provider name and Category name. In case you want to change that, please feel free to update it.

  • Specify the due date of the bill.

  • Select Repeat Optionbill: Choose the recurrence frequency to make this bills as recurring bill.

  • The following options are available:
    • Daily: This frequency will repeat the bill every day.

  • Weekly: This frequency will repeat the bill every week, on the same day.

  • Bi-weekly: This frequency will repeat the bill every two weeks, on the same day.

  • Monthly: This frequency will repeat the bill every month, on the same day.

  • Bi-monthly: This frequency will repeat the bill every two month, on the same day.

  • Annually: This frequency will repeat the bill every year, on the same day.

  • Set a reminder to alert you before the bill's due date (e.g., 5 days before): The app will start reminding you about this bill's due date, starting X days before from the due date of the bill, for every day.

  • Auto Paid: Toggle on/off the auto-paid option.

Enabling auto-paid will mark the bill as Paid on the due date automatically (in the app only). One still needs to manually initiate the payment separately to make real bill payment.

  • Select From AccountChoose the account from which the bill will be paid. If provided, it will create an outgoing transaction from this account when marking the bill as paid (or automatically in case the auto-paid toggle is enabled).

  • Create expense entry for auto-paid bills: If the Auto Paid toggle is enabled, a new toggle Add expense entry for this payment will be enabled. If the toggle is kept on, then an expense transaction will be automatically created when the bill is getting marked as auto paid by the app.

  • Notes and Attach photo: Optionally, add any additional notes or attach an image related to the bill.

  • Click on the right icon at the top right to save the bill after entering all necessary details. This confirms the setup of the recurring bill.
