How to import PDF statement?

Modified on Thu, 18 Jun at 12:07 PM

The PDF Import feature allows you to upload your bank or credit card statements in PDF format through the TimelyBills Web Portal. Using AI-powered extraction, TimelyBills automatically reads your statement, identifies accounts and transactions, and allows you to review and approve the data before it is added to your TimelyBills account.

You can find this feature under Import Transactions → PDF Import in the TimelyBills Web Portal.

Steps to Import a PDF Statement

1. Open the TimelyBills Web Portal

Sign in to your TimelyBills account through the web portal.

2. Navigate to Import Transactions

From the Dashboard, select Import Transactions from the left-side menu.

3. Select the PDF Tab

Click on the PDF tab.

4. Start a New Import

Click the New Import button.

5. Upload Your Statement

Click the Import icon and select the PDF statement you want to upload.

6. Enter PDF Password (If Required)

If your PDF statement is password-protected, enter the password and click Upload.

Note: If you don't provide the password initially, you will be prompted to enter it later during processing.

7. Wait for Processing

After uploading, you'll be redirected back to the import screen where you can track the import status.

When the status shows Processing, TimelyBills is analyzing and extracting information from your statement.

Tip: Processing typically takes 1–4 minutes, depending on the size and complexity of the statement.

8. Review Detected Transactions

Once processing is complete, the status will change to Transactions Detected and a Review button will appear.

Click Review to verify the imported data.

During review, you can:

  • Verify or update the account currency if it was not detected correctly.
  • Associted transactions to an existing TimelyBills account or create a new account from the imported statement.
  • Review transactions individually.
  • Edit transaction details such as:
    • Date
    • Amount
    • Merchant
    • Category

Smart Learning: Any corrections you make to merchants and categories are remembered by TimelyBills and will be automatically applied to future imports whenever possible.

9. Confirm the Import

Once you have reviewed and verified all transactions, click Confirm to import them into TimelyBills.

10. Import Complete

After a successful import, the status will change to Completed, indicating that all selected transactions have been saved to your TimelyBills account.

11. Sync Data to Mobile Devices

Imported accounts and transactions become available immediately on the web portal.

If you don't see the imported data on your mobile device right away:

  1. Open the TimelyBills app.
  2. Go to the Home screen.
  3. Pull down to refresh and trigger a sync.

The newly imported data should appear shortly after synchronization completes.
